Palm Tree Acres HOA, Social Committee and Just Kraft’n group hosted the annual picnic to raise money for the Community Relief Fund. The event faced a last-minute hurdle when they were informed a week prior that their clubhouse would be closed for renovations.
However, the contractors worked tirelessly, getting the clubhouse ready. A sigh of relief was heard all over Zephyrhills when it opened half an hour before the event.
Valerie Perry, the founder of Community Fund Relief expressed her gratitude for residents who attend events, stating, “The money raised today will go to this cause. The funds assist the residents in times of need.”
The group reviews the requests weekly to address the community's needs. It is heartwarming to witness the generosity of this community.
Debbie Thacker provided insight into Just Kraft’n, saying, “Just Kraft’n is a group of crafters that get together to craft. We meet once a week. You do not have to be a crafter. We have fun.”
The greatest aspect of the picnic is the fun and unity it brings to the residents with games and food. These annual not only raise funds but also strengthen the bonds within the community.
The games were set up by Jannette Burt and Sharon Anderson. The fishing game was a challenge with a fishing rod equipped with a magnet instead of a worm. The person with the most fish caught in two minutes was the winner.
Other games like Shuffle a puck to the other side of the court to get one puck in each square was quite challenging. Yard darts, Hillbilly golf (ladder golf), bucket toss, and bottle frisbee each gave their own sense challenges and fun.
Lastly, residents donated goods for a Chinese Auction to help raise more funds.
