The City of Zephyrhills - Government was proud to welcome Jesús Anyeloy Lecleres Alicea, a star cross country/track athlete all the way from Puerto Rico!
While visiting family in Z-Hills, Jesús caught up with William Poe, a University of Tampa cross-country/track standout, and son of Zephyrhills City Manager, Billy Poe.
The two didn’t just talk running — they laced up their shoes and jumped right into the Zephyrhills High School track together.
And like true distance runners...they trained through the rain.
Moments like this show that no matter where you're from, the running community speaks the same language: grit, respect, and shared miles.
Jesús dreams of running at a Division I university and eventually going pro. He's already making big strides, having earned impressive athletic accolades across his native country, including:
AAJI Runner-Up – 3,000m (16–17 age group)
UAA Runner-Up – 1,500m (16–17 age group)
UAA Champion – 4,000m (14–15 age group)
FAPUR Runner-Up – 4,000m (14–15 age group)
Record Holder – Golden Mile
